Château Lamery and the basics by Rudolf Steiner

Château Lamery and the basics by Rudolf Steiner

Respect from nature and terroir!

The domaine located 50 kms southeast of Bordeaux has been in the Broustet family since 1935.

Surrounding the two centuries old residence, lies the south facing vineyard of three hectares of well drained sandy-clay soil.

The vines, aged from 20 to over 70 + years are planted at 1.80 and 2 metres (6 and 6.5ft wide rows), with 5,200 vine plants per hectare on average. Each individual vine, therefore, bears a small amount of fruit that can be harvested when very ripe and sweet resulting from a rich field of leaves created by the high number of vines plants. The three classic Bordeaux grape varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot – are joined by Cot, aka Malbec (now every well known in Argentina).

The Semillon (0,22 hectare) gives our sweet white wine its power and aromas.

In 2006, I gave up classical viticulture and vinification with their chemical products and fertilizers in order to get closer to nature (working the land, treating the vineyard with “herbal teas” and preparations based on natural products for the vine etc), and closer to the cosmos (work carried out according to the position of the planets around us).

After harvesting by hand, that allows rigorous sorting, vinification is carried out with a bare minimum of sulphur, followed by maturing on the lees of the fermented juice only, with no addictives, in 6 and 7 year old oak barrels.

No barrel topping, no racking for 9 months, and no fining or filtration is applied to this natural wine. A sediment deposit may form at the bottom of the bottle. This is part of the natural evolution of the wine that has kept all its natural elements. This deposit does not affect the taste or quality of the wine in any way. When serving, pour the wine slowly, keeping the bottle as still as possible.

The basics of biodynamic were set out by Rudolf Steiner in 1924. This demanding and time consuming method restores life to the soil and gives real meaning to the word terroir. It means we have the pleasure of offering you a product that is truly natural and that will bring you good health and enjoyment.

As with all wines you really love, you will enjoy drinking this red from as an aperitif and throughout a meal.

However, because of its rich, tannic texture, you and your dinner guests will find this wine to be particularly enjoyable with poultry and game, red meat – grilled and with a sauce, a good leg of lamb, as well as a vast range of mushrooms and cheeses.

Vegetarians and vegans can be assured that no animal product whatsoever has come into contact with the grapes or the wine.

My name and address printed on the label symbolise my commitment to the quality of my products. You can drink them with enjoyment, with moderation and in all safety, without fear of headache or upset stomach.

What about friends and family near and far ? …
Perhaps they too would enjoy drinking wine !

Your health and daily drinking pleasure

Various, extensive medical studies, carried out in a number of countries, have shown that wine drinkers have a mortality risk lower than that of other people affected by cardiovascular disease, despite a diet richer in fat,

Particularly in the Southwest of France. The Americans refer to this as the « French Paradox ».
